WordPress or custom code: which one is right for your website?

When WordPress is the sensible choice, when custom code pays for itself, and the questions that settle it for a company website, a store or a portal.

Most website projects start with the same question: should we build it on WordPress or write it in custom code? Both are good answers in the right case. We build with both, and the choice depends on what the site has to do in its second and third year, not on what looks cheaper this month.

What each option means

WordPress is a content management system. A theme sets the design, plugins add features such as forms, SEO fields or a store, and your team edits pages from a familiar dashboard. A large share of the web runs on it, so hosting, developers and tutorials are easy to find.

Custom code means the site is written for you, usually in PHP, Laravel or Next.js. Every page, form and admin screen exists because your business needs it, and nothing loads that the site doesn’t use. You still get a dashboard to edit text, images and articles, built around your content.

When WordPress is the right call

  • A content site or blog where the team publishes daily and wants a tool it already knows.
  • A company site with standard pages and a tight budget, where a well-built theme covers the design.
  • A project that has to go live in days, with a plan to rebuild later.

When custom code pays for itself

  • The site is a sales tool: landing pages for ads, fast loading on mobile data and clean tracking matter every day.
  • You need features plugins don’t handle well: bookings with your own rules, quotes, client portals, or a connection to your ERP or CRM.
  • The site will grow into a system, and you want one codebase instead of a stack of plugins that have to agree with each other.
  • You care about ownership: the code is yours, with no licence that can expire.

Questions that settle it

  1. What does the site have to do in two years? If the answer includes logins, quotes, stock or integrations, plan for custom code now.
  2. Who edits it, and how often? A newsroom and a company that updates its services twice a year need different dashboards.
  3. Where do your visitors come from? Paid traffic on mobile punishes slow pages, so speed is worth paying for.
  4. Who will maintain it? Every WordPress plugin is something to update, and every custom feature is something the developer should document.

What each one costs with us

A company website starts from $499 and a landing page from $299, whichever way it is built. The price follows the pages and features, and you get a fixed price split into milestones in a written proposal. Domain, hosting and code are registered in your name either way.

Questions about WordPress and custom code

Is a custom-code site harder to edit?

Not when it comes with a proper dashboard. Your team edits text, images, articles and SEO fields from screens built for your content, in Arabic and English.

Can you move my WordPress site to custom code?

Yes. We move the content, keep your URLs or redirect them one by one, and carry over titles and descriptions so your search rankings are protected during the move.

Do you build WordPress sites?

Yes, when WordPress is the better fit. The proposal says which one we recommend and why.
