Can AI build your company’s website? What vibe coding gets right, and where it breaks
AI can now write working code from a sentence. What that means for a business website, where it fails, and the checks to run before you launch anything built this way.
You can now describe a website in a sentence and watch an AI tool write it. For a business, that raises a fair question: why pay a team to build what a prompt can produce? We use AI coding tools in our own work every day, so here is our honest answer: AI writes code fast, and a business still needs someone accountable for what that code does.
What vibe coding means
“Vibe coding” is the habit of building software by describing what you want in plain language and letting an AI model write the code. The term was popularised by the AI researcher Andrej Karpathy in February 2025, and by the end of that year Collins Dictionary named it its Word of the Year. In Egypt, searches for free AI website tools have been climbing on Google this autumn.
What AI does well
- First drafts. A landing page layout, a form or a pricing table in minutes instead of hours.
- Prototypes. A clickable version of an idea to show a partner or test with customers before real money is spent.
- Repetitive code. The parts every project needs and nobody enjoys writing.
- Internal tools. A small dashboard that only your team uses and that holds no sensitive data.
Where it breaks for a business
Security
Veracode’s 2025 GenAI Code Security Report tested code written by more than 100 AI models across 80 tasks. In 45% of cases the code contained security flaws, including classic weaknesses such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting, and newer, larger models did not do noticeably better. A site that looks finished can still be open to anyone who knows where to look.
Payments and customer data
Card payments through Paymob or Fawry, order confirmations and customer records all have to be handled correctly, every time. In Egypt, personal data also falls under the Personal Data Protection Law, Law No. 151 of 2020. A tool that writes the checkout cannot sign for any of that.
Arabic, speed and search
AI tools still struggle with right-to-left layouts, Arabic typography, separate language URLs and the details that decide how fast a page opens on a mid-range phone. These are exactly the things that decide whether a site ranks and sells in Egypt and the Gulf.
Ownership and maintenance
Many AI website builders host the result on their own platform, under their own subscription. And code that nobody on your side understands is hard to change six months later. Ask two questions early: where does the code live, and who can maintain it?
How we use AI at Dark Media
We treat AI as a power tool in the hands of developers, not as the developer. It speeds up drafts and repetitive work. A developer decides what ships, the security checks run before launch, and the code, the hosting and the accounts are registered to the client. The result is a custom system built faster, with nobody else holding the keys.
Before you launch a site built with AI
- Ownership. The code, the domain and the hosting are in your company’s name, and you can export the code.
- A security review. Logins, forms, file uploads and admin pages checked by someone who did not write them.
- Payments tested end to end. Successful, failed and refunded payments, on a real phone.
- Data handled on purpose. You know what customer data is stored, where, and who can see it.
- Speed and Arabic. Tested on a mid-range Android phone over mobile data, in both languages.
- Tracking. Every form, call and WhatsApp click counted in GA4 and your ad platforms.
- A second developer test. Could another developer understand and change this code next month?
Common questions
Is an AI-built website cheaper?
The first version usually is. The cost tends to arrive later, in security fixes, rebuilds and a platform subscription you can’t leave. Compare the cost over two or three years, not just the launch price.
Can you review or rescue a site we built with AI?
Yes. We audit the code, fix what is unsafe, and either harden it or rebuild the parts that can’t be trusted. You get a written list of what we found before any work starts.
