How much does it cost to build a mobile app in Egypt in 2026?

The honest answer: a well-built mobile app for both iPhone and Android in Egypt costs from about $1,800 for a focused first version, $4,000 to $9,000 for booking, delivery or marketplace apps, and more for anything with real-time features or heavy integrations. The range is wide because "an app" can mean very different things.

Typical price ranges in 2026

Type of appTypical rangeTimeline
Company or catalog app (products, offers, contact, notifications)$1,800 to $3,5005 to 8 weeks
Store app connected to your existing website or Shopify$2,500 to $5,0006 to 10 weeks
Booking or loyalty app with a dashboard$4,000 to $7,0008 to 12 weeks
Delivery, marketplace or two-sided app (customers and providers)$7,000 and up12 weeks and up

These are Dark Media prices for apps built with Flutter or React Native, which means one codebase that runs natively on both stores. Two separate native apps usually cost 60 to 90 percent more for the same features.

The five things that move the price

1. The backend nobody sees

The screens are the visible part. Behind them sit the database, the admin dashboard your team uses, user accounts, payments and notifications. On most projects the backend is 40 to 60 percent of the work. If a quote does not mention it, ask where your data will live and who manages it.

2. Payments

Cash on delivery is simple. Card payments through Paymob, Fawry or Stripe, wallets such as Vodafone Cash, refunds and payment links each add work and testing. Apple also has rules about what must be paid through its own system, so the payment model should be decided before design starts.

3. Real-time features

Live order tracking, chat between users and live availability need servers that push updates instantly. They are worth it when they are core to the product, and an expensive habit when they are not.

4. Arabic and English

A proper bilingual app is not a translated one. Right-to-left layouts, Arabic fonts, numbers, dates and push notifications in both languages add roughly 20 to 30 percent to the design and testing time.

5. What happens after launch

Apple and Google update their systems every year, and apps need small updates to stay in the stores. Budget a monthly support plan or around 15 to 20 percent of the build cost per year for maintenance, hosting and small improvements.

Do you need an app or a better website first?

Many businesses that ask us for an app actually need a fast mobile website and a WhatsApp flow first. An app makes sense when customers come back often: ordering every week, booking regularly, tracking points or using a service daily. If people buy from you once or twice a year, they will not keep an app installed, and your money is better spent on the website and ads.

How to keep the cost under control

  • Write down the one job the first version must do perfectly, and move everything else to version two.
  • Ask for a clickable prototype before development. Changing a design costs hours; changing code costs days.
  • Make sure the app accounts, the code and the server are in your company name.
  • Agree on a fixed price per milestone, with a written list of what is included and what is not.
  • Plan the launch: store listings, screenshots in both languages, and a first campaign to get the first thousand users.

Questions to ask any app developer

  • Can I see two apps you built that are live in the stores right now?
  • Who builds the admin dashboard, and is it included in the price?
  • What happens if Apple rejects the app during review?
  • How long is free support after launch, and what does a change cost after that?
