How to choose a web development company in Egypt: 12 questions to ask
Every web company in Egypt shows a nice portfolio. The difference shows up three months after launch: the site is slow, the Arabic version is broken, nobody tracks where customers come from, and the developer stopped answering. These twelve questions help you find out before you sign.
Ownership and access
1. Will the domain, hosting and code be in my name?
The answer should be yes, from day one. If a company registers the domain under its own account, you do not own your website.
2. Can I edit the content myself?
Ask for a demo of the admin panel. You should be able to change texts, prices, photos and articles in both languages without calling anyone.
Quality you can measure
3. What PageSpeed score will the site get on mobile?
Ask for a number and check two of their live sites on pagespeed.web.dev. A professional team should reach 90 or more on mobile for a company website.
4. Is the Arabic version designed or just translated?
Open their Arabic sites on your phone. Look for right-to-left layouts, proper Arabic fonts and copy written by a native speaker, not machine translation.
5. Is it built on a template?
Templates are not always bad, but they are usually slower and harder to change. If the price is very low, it is probably a template. Ask which parts are custom.
Getting customers, not just a website
6. What is included for SEO?
At minimum: clean page titles and descriptions, a sitemap, structured data, fast loading and correct Arabic and English URLs. For local businesses, ask about Google Business Profile and pages for each branch.
7. How will I know where my customers come from?
The site should ship with Google Analytics 4, the Meta Pixel if you run ads, and every form and WhatsApp click tracked as a conversion.
8. Where do the leads go?
Contact forms that send an email are easy to lose. Ask whether requests are saved in a dashboard or CRM with the source of each lead.
Process, price and after launch
9. Is the price fixed, and what is not included?
A good proposal lists pages, features and deliverables, and clearly says what costs extra, such as copywriting, photography or extra languages.
10. How will I see progress?
Weekly previews and a private staging link beat a big reveal at the end, when changes are expensive.
11. What happens after launch?
Ask how long free support lasts, how backups work and what a small change costs afterwards.
12. Can I talk to a past client?
Reviews on Google and Facebook help. A short call with a real client helps more.
A quick red-flag list
- No written scope, only a total price.
- The domain or hosting will be under the agency account.
- They cannot show live sites, only screenshots.
- No mention of speed, tracking or SEO.
- Payment of the full amount before any design is shown.
